Appearance #50! Tomb Raider #3 by Nicolás Daniel Selma!

April 23, 2014

Never have I been what you would call a "fan" of Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider franchise. But then things happen in a year, like the people at Square Enix rebooting the series and making a great game out of it. Excellent game play and an awesome story, and it created a new fan out of this guy right here.

So of course when they announced a new comic book continuing the adventures of Lara from this reboot, how could I resist? I contacted the series artist Nicolás Daniel Selma and he graciously gave me a cameo in Tomb Raider #3. And I think it's a fitting appearance. Over the course of fifty issues my cameos have played many roles. They have reacted to or played out a part in the action happening in the pages and panels. But today I'm just a guy, a casual observer in the background. And it reminds me of why I started doing this in the first place.

On a side note, people have asked me "how long do you plan on doing this", the Draw Me In thing. I usually mention stopping if I ever start writing comics on a professional level. But as a personal goal I always wanted to reach at least fifty appearances.

And here it is.... Number fifty! I guess from here on out we're in overtime.

Currently I am trying to write my own comics with the intent of getting them published, but you know what? I'm not quite done with Draw Me In. Be it in a another year or however long I keep this up, it's the fan in me and the love of the hobby that keeps me wanting to go on. Trying to sneak my way into a new favorite title or drawn by a favorite artist.
