Draw Me In 2013 - Year in Review

December 30, 2013

Well, I know people say it all the time but dang, this year felt like it went by fast didn't it?

My last DMI appearance in 2012 was in Star Trek: Hive #3. My first cameo in 2013 didn't appear until June. It took six long months for anything to happen, half a year. But it was a great six months.

But before we skip ahead to June, I'd hate to not mention my annual trip in April to Kansas City's largest comic book convention Plant Comicon! I saw a bunch of familiar faces and some new ones as well. You can read my post about it here.

As I said, I didn't have any activity here for the first half of 2013. But I did manage to get a total of ten new appearances in some awesome comic books during that time. Including my first in a little book called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles... perhaps you've heard of it? Artist Mateus Santolouco added "doctor" to my growing list of comic book occupations in June.

Playing doctor in TMNT #23

Then in July, after seven years of running this blog I got a double dose of awesome. Local press. First by appearing in my local newspaper the Leavenworth Times. And in turn, days later I appeared on my local news station, which was really cool.

August saw my appearances in Critter #13 by Fico Ossio and Dream Thief #4 by my friend Greg Smallwood.

In September we got an appearance in Venom by Jorge Coelho and in Archie! by Dan Parent.

In October, from the writer of "Hawkeye" and "Inhuman"... and the guy who talks to Applebee's on the Facebook, I made a cameo appearance in their book Sex Criminals #2.

Panel from Sex Criminals #2. Don't look in the bag...

November, wow! Um, let's see; Hit #3 by Vanesa R. Del Rey, Powerpuff Girls #3 by Troy Little and Thief of Thieves #18 by Shawn Martinbrough.

Only to be revisited again in Hit #4 as my first role as a reoccurring character! Heck yes!

The year ended quite well. As it seems it went by quickly, it reminds me to get my act together and work faster towards my goal to get some original work published. It may not happen in 2014, but I want it to be getting there. Motivation, be with me...

My character is still alive! For now...

Appearance #48! Hit #4 by Vanesa R. Del Rey!

December 18, 2013

A month ago I had a pretty cool cameo in Hit #3 drawn by Vanesa R. Del Rey, whereas my character appearance was part of the plot, and not just a panel photobomb moment.

Well shortly there after Vanesa informs me I'm in the next issue as well. Holy crap! My first DMI reoccurring role. Oh yeah!

Here are the pages!
