DMI Year In Review! PLUS Planet Comicon 2014: The Lost Post!

January 1, 2015

Well, this hasn't really been a gang buster year for Draw Me In, only three appearances to add to the list... but hey, it is what it is.

The BIG DMI event of the year has to be the fact I hit the big 5-0 on appearances with April's Tomb Raider #3 drawn by Nicolas Daniel Selma.

I've neglected the campaign a bit in an effort to do some writing of my own, but as 2015 hits I am happy to say I've got at least three potential cameos lined up, two Marvel books and an Image title. Looking forward to those!

As a bonus to my Year In Review, here's an additional posting of my annual trip to Planet Comicon in Kansas City. I was not responsible enough to actually post it back in March when it happened, but I'll try to do better for this year as it's only a few months away! So here we go...

Got to meet Tom Hutchison from Big Dog Ink. He is the writer to Critter which I made a cameo in issue #13.

I always look forward to seeing the Sixth Gun guys Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt but I needed to get a pic alone with Cullen for my Venom appearance. Right across from them was my buddy CW Cooke which just recently had a Kickstarter campaign for his new book Solitary. Not to far away was a DJ/stage area where I remember all of us checking out the cosplay dancing. Quite entertaining really.

Was cool to see James Robinson (current writer on Fantastic Four). Very nice guy and enjoyed talking to him. I enjoyed a lot of his stuff for DC before the New 52 relaunch. His Superman partner in crime Greg Rucka was there as well. Nice to see him at Planet Comicon again, it had been a few years since his last visit.

Other guests included of course my buddy Greg Smallwood and Jai Nitz. They were gearing up for their second volume of Dream Thief from Dark Horse. Darwyn Cooke was a guest, although I admit I didn't have much for him to sign, just a few of his Catwoman books. Freddie Williams II and his wife Kiki are always a treat to talk to. Right next to them I got to meet Ryan Browne, creator of God Hates Astronauts, and pick up the trade of his book.

Good times but I'm just looking forward to the next show. Still waiting for more creator guest announcements. Happy New Year everyone and thanks for visiting!
