Appearance! The Pitch by Greg Smallwood!

March 22, 2012

Synchronicity!

UPDATE: To coincide with this weekends Planet Comicon, I did a Q&A about Draw Me In with Nick Spacek on The Pitch's Wayward Blog!

While exchanging e-mails with artist Greg Smallwood, he surprised me last week by mentioning he was drawing a cover for The Pitch. And that I was going to be on it!

The Pitch is a free local (Kansas City) weekly entertainment newspaper. So this was cool. I was excited for my friend Greg for getting the job, and then pleasantly surprised to hear he was drawing me in the cover!

Thanks Greg for being you man. I spent the better part of an evening going around to various locations around town, swiping copies to give out to friends and family. Of course I'll have to probably frame one too... eventually.

In a totally related note: Kansas City's biggest comic book convention is in two days. Looking forward to Planet Comicon in a big way!

Appearance #24.5!

September 3, 2011

The Walking Dead Weekly #35 drawn by Charlie Adlard!

This one is a cheat... so I'm not really counting it. But as part of reprinting the entire run of The Walking Dead, my appearance in The Walking Dead #35 (surprise, surprise!) showed up in The Walking Dead Weekly #35!!

I love this panel.

Retailer Variant Cover - Amazing Spider-man #666

July 27, 2011

I'm on a cover! To a real comic book this time too! Only one reason I don't include it as my next appearance.

Cause it's a tiny photo, not really drawn by an artist.

But it's still something cool to talk about here at DMI!

Jeff Garrett, the owner of my local (still out of town though) comic book store Limited Figures took part in Marvel Comics recent retailer incentive cover promotion for Amazing Spider-man #666. Knowing my little presence here in fandom, Jeff offered to include me in his store photo submission.

So along with our friend Brian and Jeff's three children, I represent the tiny figure on the far left... reading the Death of Ultimate Spider-man issue.

Thanks to Jeff for allowing me to pop up in his cover!

Appearance! By Diego Guaglianone!

July 10, 2011

Two months ago when I was interviewed for the newspaper Folha, I received a few e-mails of interest from the article. One was from Diego Guaglianone, a 15 year old Brazilian cartoonist who runs a webcomic.

Diego was gracious enough to add me to a recent strip as seen below!

Thanks for the appearance Diego!

I'm on a Cover! Kinda...

June 27, 2011

The piece above is a poster drawn by artist Greg Smallwood for the 2011 Free State Comicon in Lawrence, Kansas.

Now I have a cheat in this shameless plug as I have known Greg for a while now. He's had a hand in crafting the comic book blogger who is typing right now. So I'm thrilled that his talents are getting a major outlet, in a soon (maybe?) to be announced project through Oni Press.

So imagine to great joy when I received a message from him last week, popping up in this poster for Free State Comicon.

I just might have to go to this now.

Nicely done sir, thanks Greg!

The Secret's Out!

Today my little campaign has gone public. Thanks to a little publicity from recent DMI artist Kody Chamberlain (Sweets) I got picked up by one of my daily stops for any and all things comic book related BleedingCool.com.

Feel free to check it out, here's the link. It'll link you right back here, bringing you full circle. Go ahead, I'll wait.

And if you're an artist or writer and think that my "comic quest" is cool and you'd like to be a part of it, feel free to drop me a line. It's drawmein@gmail.com.
